Applications are hereby invited for a permanent, full time position of a Building Inspector located at the Cariboo Regional District South office in 100 Mile House. For the primary duties and responsibilities of the Building Inspector position, please see the pdf below.
The minimum qualification requirement for this position is Level I BOABC Certification. The qualified candidate will require a thorough understanding of the BC Building Regulations, the ability to read and interpret building plans, and an understanding of the Local Government Act and Community Charter. All of which will be tested during the interview process.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with owners, builders and professionals, and to effectively enforce bylaws and regulations; work independently, exercise discretion, and sound judgment; be physically fit and able to work outside in all types of weather, able to walk long distances, climb stairs, and drive long distances.
As a condition of continued employment, the incumbent must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and must submit to a criminal record check and provide a driver’s abstract.
This is a Union position and is covered by the terms and conditions of employment as set out in the Collective Agreement between the Cariboo Regional District and the BCGEU. The terms of this position include a wage range of $34.86 to $38.06 per hour, depending on experience and BOABC Certification Level. The terms of this position include a 35-hour workweek and a 90-day probationary period.
