Audited Financial Statements

            Chartered Accountants, Jay Cheek and Joann Francis, from PMT Chartered Professional Accountants LLP, presented the Cariboo Regional Hospital District, the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District and the Cariboo Regional District 2015 audited financial statements.  For inquiries contact the CRD’s Chief Financial Officer at 250-392-3351 or toll free at 1-800-665-1636.

 Hospital Project Funding

            The Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District Board adopted a bylaw authorizing a 40 per cent contribution towards the purchase of new Patient Monitoring Systems in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at GR Baker Memorial Hospital.

 Celebration Events on ALR Land

            The Board will be forwarding correspondence to the Agricultural Land Commission, encouraging the Commission to allow celebration events, such as weddings, birthdays, reunions, etc., to be an accepted farm use on Agricultural Land Reserve lands, subject to buildings being inspected to ensure that they are safe for public assemblies.

 Community Works Funding Allocated

            The Board approved the Cariboo Ski Touring Club’s request for up to $8,000 in Community Works Funding from the 2016 Community Halls Improvements envelope.  The funds will be used to upgrade the ski track lighting system at the Hallis Lake Ski Center.

 Signage for Soda Creek Cemetery

            The CRD will be requesting the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to post signage on Highway 97 South near Soda Creek Townsite Road, and along Soda Creek Townsite Road, directing interested members of the travelling public to the Soda Creek Cemetery.

 Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Grants

            The Board received a report from the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society (CCACS), regarding recommendations for the 2016 CCACS Grants Program, and endorsed the following grants for the program:

 

150 Mile Greenbelt, Trail & Heritage Society - $2,150

Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddle Society - $2,000

Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre - $3,000

Cariboo Chilcotin Metis Association - $1,200

Cariboo Potters Guild - $1,400

 Community Arts Council of Williams Lake - $3,000

Contact Women’s Society - $1,500

McLeese Lake Recreation Commission - $3,000

Station House Studio and Gallery Society - $750

West Coast Book Prize Society (dba BC Book Prizes) - $1,200

Williams Lake Indian Band - $3,000

Williams Lake Museum and Historical Society - $2,800

 

Quesnel and District Visitor Information Centre

            The Board authorized $10,000 from the North Cariboo Economic Development budget to be contributed toward the operation of the Quesnel and District Visitor Information Centre, on the condition that the centre continues to operate on a year-round basis.

 NDIT Application – Barlow Creek Ball Fields

            The CRD will be submitting an application to the Northern Development Initiative Trust for the Community Halls and Recreation Facilities Program for $30,000 for Barlow Creek Ball Field Upgrade from the Cariboo-Chilcotin/Lillooet Regional Development Account and an additional $30,000 from the Pine Beetle Recovery Account.

 Electoral Area F Discretionary Funds

            The Cariboo Regional District Board authorized the following from the Electoral Area F Discretionary Funds:

Up to $250 to be used towards the costs of a barbecue for the Big Lake Community clean-up.

 Up to $200 for volunteer appreciation, to purchase a plaque for the Likely Community Centre in memory of Robin Hood.

 Up to $300 to be used toward cake and refreshments for the Big Lake Volunteer Fire/Rescue 20th Anniversary celebration on May 29, 2016.

 Xatsull Heritage Village - Viewing Platform           

            The Cariboo Regional District Board authorized $1,000 from the Electoral Area D Economic Development function, and $2,000 from the Area D Electoral Area Discretionary Fund to be used for upgrades to the viewing platform overlooking the Xatsull Heritage Village and the Fraser River.
