 Special Occasion Liquor Licenses Minimize

A Special Occasion License is required for the sale of beer or wine at public functions. These functions often include beer gardens or wine tasting events. Any bona fide organization, club, group or society which meets regularly or occasionally is eligible to apply for a Public Function Special Occasion License. Regulations and information pertaining to the issuance of the subject Licenses may be obtained from the local office of the Liquor Distribution Branch.

The Cariboo Regional District Board is required, by regulation, to consider all requests for Public Function Special Occasion Licenses. Once Regional District sanction of the application has been obtained, final approval of the license rests with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police authority for your area.

All groups within the area of the Cariboo Regional District wishing to apply for Public Function Special Occasion Licenses during the current year are requested to obtain application forms and submit them to the Central Cariboo (Williams Lake) office by the end of February of the current year.

Provincial regulations require completion of the Serving it Right license training program for license holders and servers (with exceptions), prior to issuance of a Special Occasion License. Your certificate number must be included on the application form.

If you are unsure of the exact date(s) of an event to be held in the current year, please include an approximate date on application forms. The Cariboo Regional District will accept amendments during the year, with sufficient notice by way of a telephone call, once exact dates for a function are known.

For further information regarding Special Occasion Liquor Licenses, please contact the Central Cariboo office at 250-392-3351 or toll-free: 1-800-665-1636.  Or, download the application.
